Setting up your email sending domain

Why to send from your own domain and how to set it up.

Video: Use your own email domain so emails land in the inbox (1:14, with captions)

Emails look more trusted, and land in the inbox more often, when they come from your own domain, like hello@yourcompany.com.

What you need

  • Access to where your domain is managed (your registrar, such as GoDaddy).
  • Or the person who manages it, to add a few records for you.

Set up

  1. 1Open Settings, then Email Services (or Domains).
  2. 2Add your sending domain.
  3. 3We show you a few DNS records. Add them at your registrar.
  4. 4Wait. This can take a few hours.
  5. 5Choose Verify. When all records show as verified, you are ready.

Do not break your regular email

Adding these records does not change where your normal email arrives. If you are not sure, send us the records and your registrar name in chat before you change anything. We will check them first.

Tips

  • Send from a person's name, not "no-reply".
  • Do not send to a bought list. It hurts your delivery for everyone.
  • Every email has an unsubscribe link. Do not remove it.
