WhatsApp approval, display name and templates
What Meta checks, what a template is and what its status means.

What Meta checks
Meta reviews your business and your display name. The display name is what customers see at the top of the chat. It must match your business name. The review takes hours or days, and we cannot speed it up.
Where it lives
Once WhatsApp is live, open Settings and click WhatsApp. This is where you manage your WhatsApp setup.
What a template is
A template is a message that Meta approved in advance. If a customer wrote to you in the last 24 hours, you can reply with any message. After 24 hours, you start the chat with a template. See The 24 hour window.
Make a new template
- 1Open the new template form.
- 2Give it a name.
- 3Choose a category.
- 4Write your message. A numbered gap fills in the customer's name or a time.
- 5Press Submit.
What the status means
- Pending: Meta is still checking.
- Approved: you can send it.
- Rejected: Meta said no. Change the wording and send it again.
Check it worked
- Your template shows Approved.
- Your display name shows in the chat.
